Before being opened, the bottle should be stored in a place at an average temperature of never above 16°C, avoiding big fluctuations in temperature. It should also be sheltered from direct light. If it is a Ruby port, keep the bottle horizontally. If it is a Tawny port, the bottle can be stored standing up. Once open, both should be kept away from light and high temperatures. Keep them in the kitchen fridge, or in a wine fridge if you have one. Leave the bottle out of the fridge for a bit before serving it.
